Have you ever gone into a house or apartment, and for some reason it feels like you have walked into a rental space? Although it is aesthetically pleasant, the surroundings are clean and tidy, the furniture is lovely, the whole space lacks soul. With a quick look around, you realize that the surroundings don’t give any hints to the people that live between the walls; there are no books or magazines, no quirky little conversation pieces, although a nice place to sleep, it is just not “homey.” There is nothing to feed our spirits; in an effort to create perfection, this house seems to be a spiritual desert.

On the other hand, you might visit another space, like my friend Marina’s, that makes you want to stay, to settle into a comfortable corner, turn on a light and thumb through a magazine, or old recipe book. There might be a puzzle on a table, inviting you to sit down for a bit, or a knitting project to pick up. This house, is filled with laughter and music, the artwork comes from her studio upstairs, and every corner is filled with something interesting.

Homekeeping

Homekeeping refers to the act of managing and maintaining a home in terms of cleanliness, organization, and day-to-day tasks. It involves activities such as cleaning, tidying, laundry, cooking, and general household chores. Homekeeping focuses primarily on the practical aspects of running a household and ensuring that it is functional and orderly.

Homemaking

Homemaking on the other hand goes beyond the physical aspects of homekeeping. It involves creating a nurturing, comfortable, and welcoming environment within the home. Homemaking involves activities that contribute to the overall ambiance of a home, such as decorating, arranging furniture and adding personal touches. It is through the act of homemaking that we create a sense of warmth and harmony. It includes activities related to family life, relationship and creates a sense of belonging. While homekeeping primarily focuses on the day-to-day tasks and maintenance of a home, homemaking is about creating a holistic living experience that encompasses emotional, spiritual and aesthetic aspects of home.

Homemaking infuses personal values, traditions, fostering a sense of comfort and well-being to make home a place where individuals and families can thrive.

So what is My Little Pink Home?

I believe that home, whether a sprawling mansion or tiny bedroom, can be a sanctuary that nurtures the physical body and provides a safe space for personal growth and spiritual nourishment.

When I began My Little Pink Home, my dream was that through engaging content, supportive community (more about this later), curated resources and online courses, I could help you think about how you could create a home that embodies your unique spirit.

In the next few years, I will be sharing with you some practical, creative ideas that encompass every aspect of homemaking. From embracing traditional skills like canning and bread making to curating vintage treasures that carry stories from the past, we can celebrate the art of slow-living and conscious consumption and regenerative practices.

Beyond the physical, I understand that home is a space to practice mindful living tips, self-care rituals, and build a deeper connection with ourselves and our surrounding community. Together we will embrace our journey through midlife to personal empowerment.

I would like My Little Pink Home to serve as a haven of comfort, inspiration and authenticity.
