It is hot today, too hot to do much else but sit, or nap.
I wanted to be a little bit productive, so I took on a project that I have been planning for several years now. This is just a little pocket curtain to hang in the closet of the guest bedroom. Juniper my granddaughter sleeps in there, and doesn’t like that there is no door. It was time to fix it.
Funny the whole thing was done and dusted in about 40 minutes. Isn’t that the way? Sometimes we overestimate the time something will take, in truth, the commitment was small, but I am very pleased with the results. I have to admit, I love curtained doorways and cupboards, and I am not above removing a wooden door just to hang a bit of gingham.
I dug through my stash and found three metres of this pink and white fabric. I had planned another use for it, but the colour was right. I found some ecru lace too, but decided against using it afterall. Simplicity won the day.
The fabric was 45″, I made sure that the whole thing was pressed. When I used to teach Fashion Technology, I told the students, “If you are not spending as much time at the iron as you are at the sewing machine, you will not be happy with your results.”
I measured 1.5 inches and pressed it all the way across.
Next I folded the whole thing up and measured 5 ” across, pinned and pressed.
I
My doorway was high. I measured 80″, measured 1.5 ” pressed it down, and put in a 3 ” hem at the bottom. I had a tension rod, that worked beautifully. Molly is clearly happy with the results too.
